THE BODY THAT OBSERVES ITSELF
Workshop dedicated to Mask, Neutral Mask and Clown
A path of deepening into body awareness, rhythm and stage presence, fundamental elements of the actor’s and performer’s work.
Through work with the mask, the body becomes the first instrument of listening and action: a body that learns to move in time, in space and in relationship. Rhythm is explored as a living structure of scenic action, made of pauses, breaths, silences, variations of time, changes of speed and vibrations, both internal and external.
The observation of the rhythm of pauses is a central element of the work and is revealed in a particular way through the neutral mask. It is precisely in these breathing pauses that the space of the creative act opens up: change, not only in life but also on stage and in improvisation, arises from these suspensions, which allow us to rediscover freedom within the pattern, breaking automatism and reopening the possibility of choice.
The neutral mask guides the participant toward a state of essential presence, where every gesture gains clarity and necessity, freeing itself from habit and expressive excess. The work develops a central competence: the ability to be fully inside the body, following its impulses and dynamics, and at the same time to observe oneself from the outside, cultivating a lucid gaze capable of correcting, orienting and directing the action in real time.
In the transition toward Clown, this practice flows into a research on coherence: between body and emotion, between impulse and form, between fragility and structure. Technique does not limit expressiveness, but supports it, allowing the clown to emerge in an authentic way, present and deeply connected to the scenic moment.
The workshop is intended for those who wish to develop a conscious, rhythmic and alive stage presence, capable of inhabiting the body with truth and transforming every action into language.
About me
Art therapist and clown, from Rome served for 17 years as an officer in the national police force where she evolved from public security tasks to psychological studies linked to local organizations. But she was not happy. She knew she needed to find out more about life and change it! At the same time, she began to study the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature, (University of Rome "La Sapienza") a special program for "critique of Theatre and entertainment". She began to dive into the art world of theater and cinema discovering that the stage was the habitat that attracted her and the clown art she loved the most.
